My name is Josef Miyasato. I am an award-winning writer, dedicated to completing five books by the end of 2021. I received a BA in English with a Creative Writing Emphasis. I have published poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. I was nominated for a Pushcart Prize for my first short story. I published the chapbook, The Portable Manimal Fiction, and am currently looking for a publisher for my non-fiction manuscript (233 pages).
I have been writing since high school. I was awarded the President’s Writing Award in College. I was writing before I was aware that I was in love with reading. Writing is my first real passion. I have been praised for my teaching and speaking ability, which is handy, since I love to help others. It is my intention to assist others along their own author’s pathway.
The author’s pathway is not an easy road. But it can’t be taken by anybody else. Each individual writer must make the trek with his/her own strength and vision, calling forth with their own voice. There are no shortcuts if you want to write anything of lasting value. Fortunately, there are guides along the way, but you have to know where to look. If you are on your own journey, or are thinking of starting one, let this blog be one of them.
This blog is focused on advice and tips on writing towards self and traditional publishing. And since I am not only a guide, but a fellow traveler, I will be sharing insight and information into my own journey. You can follow my path toward the dream of publication and towards the larger goal of completing five books by Dec. of 2021.
